The 2012 season
was filled with some great moments for Joel Doiron and his family highlighted
by his Dad, Ovide Doiron being elected into the DIRT Motorsports Hall of
Fame. On the track, Doiron had a solid
2012 campaign that had him in championship contention at Cornwall Speedway
throughout the season.
Doiron’s only
weekly track was Cornwall Motor Speedway in 2012. He started the year with a 12th place finish in the
Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified season opener.
Over the next couple months, he posted eight consecutive top ten
finishes at Cornwall Speedway, and emerged as a serious contender for the
championship late in the season. He
ended the season with nine top ten finishes and finished fourth overall in
track points. He also finished second
in the Doiron Cup championship that tallied points for the qualifying heats
each week and was eighth overall in the Canadian Nationals Series.
“We had a solid
year at Cornwall this year. We didn’t
get a win this year, but we had some strong finishes, and remained in
contention for the championship coming down to the final couple races”, says Doiron. “We will continue to work hard and hopefully
we will be even stronger next year”.
The highlight of
the 2012 season came at Brockville Speedway in his only appearance at the track
this season during the Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified race during the Fall Nationals
Weekend last month He posted a strong
third place finish with a great field of cars on hand for the season finale.
